With the scenic backdrop of the old harbor of Chania, we embark on a journey to the magnificent lagoon of Balos.
Traversing the northern coastline of the Bay of Chania, we will pass Cape Spatha and continue with views of the Bay of Kissamos. To our right, the island of Gramvousa awaits. Prepare to disembark and take a dip in the stunning turquoise waters of Balos.

Next, we will cross over to Gramvousa Island, crowned by an imposing fortress at its summit. The island holds significant historical and natural value and is part of the Natura 2000 protected area. At the top of the island stands the renowned Venetian Castle, built in the 16th century by the Venetians. The fortress served as a strategic stronghold, offering exceptional views of the sea and surrounding region, leveraging the island’s natural defenses.

During the Greek War of Independence in 1821, Gramvousa became a center of activity for Cretan revolutionaries and a base for pirates.

As the boat glides through the shimmering waters, the journey unfolds to reveal the secluded haven of Menies Beach—a paradise perfect for relaxing on sandy shores and embarking on coastal explorations. Continuing this maritime odyssey, the trip ventures eastward to the picturesque bay of Choironisia, where steep cliffs embrace the crystal-clear waters, creating a mesmerizing tableau of natural grandeur.
